Database Management

A FactoryTalk AssetCentre system uses a Microsoft SQL Server to store data for the entire system. All system components are stored within the SQL database, including archived files, diagnostic logs, and the FactoryTalk AssetCentre system configuration. The FactoryTalk AssetCentre server is the only component that directly accesses the SQL database. The FactoryTalk AssetCentre clients, and agents communicate with the FactoryTalk AssetCentre server to process requests.
The
Database Management
 includes:
  • Database Information: Shows the information of the database, including name, version, and related size of database, log, and archive.
  • Database Limitations: Specifies limitations for database sizes and archive versions, and sets methods of alerting users when at warning or nearing maximum database levels.
  • Database Maintenance: Configures database index and space maintenance, analyzes index fragmentation, rebuilds fragmented indexes, shrinks a database, and schedules log or archive cleanup tasks.
