Data Log Models editor - File Management tab
The following table shows options in the tab if you select
File Set
as the storage format in the Setup
tab.Option | Description |
---|---|
Start New Files | In this area, you can choose to start new files periodically, at specified times, when a particular event occurs, or never. The default is Periodic /Daily . |
Periodic | To start new files after a certain time period has elapsed, choose Periodic , and then choose one of the following time periods:
|
At Specified Times | To start new log files at specified times, choose At Specified Times , and then type a time or list of times when data will be logged to a new file. The interval between the times specified should be at least 5 minutes. Start a new line for each new time using any of the following:
You can combine a time with a date or day of the week. Enter times and dates in the format indicated. Do not use time and date formats specified by the Regional Settings of the Windows Control Panel. |
On Event | To start new log files when a particular event occurs, choose On Event , and then type an expression in the Expression field that will trigger the starting of a new file, or click the Expression button to open the Expression dialog box and create one. |
Never | Choose Never to have all data logged to one file set. |
Delete Oldest Files | You can have old data log files deleted after a specified period or once a specified number of files has been created. Leave the check boxes cleared if you do not want the files to be automatically deleted. If you select both check boxes, files are deleted after the maximum time or after the maximum number of files is reached, whichever happens first. |
After Maximum Time | To delete log file sets after a specified period, select After Maximum Time , type a number, and then select a time period. When that number of days, weeks or months has elapsed, the older log file sets are deleted. |
After Maximum Files | To delete the oldest log file set once a specified number has been reached, select After Maximum Files and type a number. The files currently being logged to are not included in this number. For example, if you specify 10, you will have a maximum of 11 data log file sets at any given time; 10 old ones and the current set. When a new set is started, (giving you 11 old sets and a new current set), the oldest file set is deleted. |
The following table shows options in the tab if you select
ODBC database
as the storage format in the Setup
tab.Option | Description |
---|---|
After Maximum Time | Select this check box to purge the oldest records in the ODBC database after the specified time, type a number, and then choose a time period. When the specified time period elapses, the older records are deleted at midnight if the system is running, or the next time the logger is started. This option deletes the records, but the size of the database remains the same. To compress the database, use a tool appropriate for the database you are using. See the documentation for the database software for this information. |
