Import multiple XML display files using a batch file
When you select the
Multiple displays batch import file
option in the Import File Type
dialog box, the Multiple Import File
dialog box opens, where you complete the import.Each graphic display XML file included in the batch import can be defined to create new objects or to update existing objects. If this attribute is specified in the file, what appears there will override the setting in this dialog. If nothing is specified, this setting will be applied to the file during import.
TIP:
If importing an older XML file (created with FactoryTalk View SE version 6.1 or older) into version 7.0 or newer, and it contains Trends:
- If there is more than oneFactoryTalk Historian SEserver configured in FactoryTalk Directory, the firstFactoryTalk Historian SEserver name will be saved into the trend Model name (on the Pens tab) as <FactoryTalk Historian SEserver name>.
- If there are noFactoryTalk Historian SEservers configured inFactoryTalk Directorywhen copying, the Trend version will be converted to the new version but theFactoryTalk Historian SEserver name will not be saved and the Model name is NULL (on the Pens tab).
To import multiple graphic display files:
- In theMultiple Import Filedialog box, beside theSelect the multiple display batch import filefield, click the browse button(...).
- In theSelect Multiple Displays Batch Importdialog box, locate and then click the .xml file you plan to import, and then clickOpen. The name of the selected file is copied to the text box in theMultiple Import Filedialog box.
- In theMultiple Import Filedialog box, in theWhen importingfield, clickCreate new objects on the displayorUpdate existing objects on the display.
- ClickFinishto complete the import. A progress bar with aCancelbutton monitors the import process.TIP:You cannot create new objects and update existing objects with the same file import.If a display is open, the import for that display cannot occur.Canceling during import does not return the displays to their previous state. If you cancel the operation before it is completed, any changes that have already been made to the displays will be retained.When you export graphic displays, an XML file with the same name as the display and the file extension .XML, is created for each display exported. In addition, a batch import file is created that is given the nameBatchImport_<HMI server name>.XML<HMI server name>is the name of the HMI server where the graphic display resides.
