Import multiple XML display files using a batch file

When you select the
Multiple displays batch import file
option in the
Import File Type
dialog box, the
Multiple Import File
dialog box opens, where you complete the import.
Each graphic display XML file included in the batch import can be defined to create new objects or to update existing objects. If this attribute is specified in the file, what appears there will override the setting in this dialog. If nothing is specified, this setting will be applied to the file during import.
TIP:
If importing an older XML file (created with FactoryTalk View SE version 6.1 or older) into version 7.0 or newer, and it contains Trends:
  • If there is more than one
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
server configured in FactoryTalk Directory, the first
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
server name will be saved into the trend Model name (on the Pens tab) as <
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
    server name>.
  • If there are no
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
    servers configured in
    FactoryTalk Directory
when copying, the Trend version will be converted to the new version but the
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
server name will not be saved and the Model name is NULL (on the Pens tab).
To import multiple graphic display files:
  1. In the
    Multiple Import File
    dialog box, beside the
Select the multiple display batch import file
    field, click the browse button
    (...)
    .
  2. In the
    Select Multiple Displays Batch Import
dialog box, locate and then click the .xml file you plan to import, and then click
    Open
. The name of the selected file is copied to the text box in the
    Multiple Import File
    dialog box.
  3. In the
    Multiple Import File
    dialog box, in the
    When importing
    field, click
Create new objects on the display
    or
Update existing objects on the display
    .
  4. Click
    Finish
to complete the import. A progress bar with a
    Cancel
    button monitors the import process.
    TIP:
You cannot create new objects and update existing objects with the same file import.
If a display is open, the import for that display cannot occur.
Canceling during import does not return the displays to their previous state. If you cancel the operation before it is completed, any changes that have already been made to the displays will be retained.
When you export graphic displays, an XML file with the same name as the display and the file extension .XML, is created for each display exported. In addition, a batch import file is created that is given the name
    BatchImport_
    <HMI server name>
    .XML
    <HMI server name>
is the name of the HMI server where the graphic display resides.
