Import a single XML display file

Select the
Single display import file
option in the
Import File Type
dialog box to import a single graphic display file.
You cannot create new objects and update existing objects with the same file import. If the display is open, the import cannot occur.
Canceling during import does not return the display to its previous state. If you cancel the operation before it is completed, any changes that have already been made to the display will be retained.
When you export graphic displays, an XML file with the same name as the display and the file extension .XML, is created for each display exported. In addition, a batch import file is created that is given the name
BatchImport_
<HMI server name>
.XML
where
<HMI server name>
is the name of the HMI server where the graphic display resides.
TIP:
If importing an older XML file (created with FactoryTalk View SE version 6.1 or older) into version 7.0 or newer, and it contains Trends:
  • If there is more than one
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
    server configured in FactoryTalk Directory, the first
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
    server name will be saved into the trend Model name (on the Pens tab) as <
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
    server name>.
  • If there are no
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
    servers configured in
    FactoryTalk Directory
    when copying, the Trend version will be converted to the new version but the
    FactoryTalk Historian
    server name will not be saved and the Model name is NULL (on the Pens tab).
