Draw an arc

An arc is a segment of an ellipse's perimeter. An arc is drawn in two steps: first you create an ellipse or circle, and then you reshape the ellipse or circle.

To draw an arc:
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    , in the toolbox, select Arc_Tool.
  2. Drag Arc_Tool diagonally to draw an ellipse the size you need and then release the mouse button.
    TIP:
    To base the arc on a circle, hold down
    Ctrl
    as you drag the arc tool.
  3. In the
    Arc Propertie
    s dialog box, make sure that
    Back Style
    is set to
    Transparent
    . Change other styles if needed.
  4. Click
    OK
    . A set of handles appears on the object so you can reshape the ellipse.
    TIP:
    To show these handles, you can also right-click the object and select
    Edit
    .
  5. Click a handle, and drag the Arc tool to cut out part of the circle.
    To draw the arc in 45-degree increments, press
    Ctrl
    while you draw.
