Use OPC Test Client to test Remote FactoryTalk Linx Gateway

OPC
 Test Client verifies that Remote
FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
 is able to establish a data connection to a remote
OPC
 DA server. This utility is installed as part of Remote
FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
 installation on the
FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
 product DVD.
Prerequisites:
  • Install Remote
    FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
     on the computer that hosts the
    OPC
     DA client.
To use OPC Test Client:
  1. Ensure the remote
    OPC
     DA service is running.
  2. Start
    OPC
     Test Client by selecting
    Start > All Programs > Rockwell Software > RSLinx > Tools >
    OPC
     Test Client.
  3. From the
    OPC
     Test Client menu, select
    Server > Connect
    .
  4. Select an
    OPC
     DA server from the
    Located Servers
     list or select
    Browse
     to find an
    OPC
     DA server, then select
    OK
    .
  5. Select
    Group > Add Group
     to add a group, which is a collection of tags with the same update (scan) rate. Name the group and specify an update rate, then select
    OK
    .
    TIP:
    The server will return the group update rate closest to the rate requested by the client. The supported update rates are: 10, 20, 50, 100, 250, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000... to 60000 ms.
  6. Click
    Item > Add Item
     to open the Browse window to enable browsing for tags.
  7. Locate and expand the root node.
  8. Click the controller containing the tags you want to browse.
  9. Click the Online folder to expose the controller tags.
  10. Select the tags you want to access (up to, but not exceeding, the activation count).
  11. Click
    OK
     to add the tags and start collecting data.
