Disable a user account

Disable a
FactoryTalk
user account to prevent a user from logging on. To prevent inadvertent lock out of the
FactoryTalk Directory
, the last user account that is a member of the Administrators group cannot be disabled.
  • Use
    User Properties
    to disable a
    FactoryTalk
    user account.
  • Use
    Windows
    to disable a
    Windows
    -linked account.
To permanently remove a
FactoryTalk
user account, delete the account. You can also use Historical Usage to disable a user account.
Prerequisites
Disabling a user account requires these permissions:
  • Common > List Children
  • Common > Read
  • Common > Write
To disable a user account
  1. In
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    Explorer
    , expand
    System
    >
    Users
, right-click the user account, and select
    Properties.
  2. In
    User Properties
    , select
    Account is disabled
    , and select
    OK
    .
    IMPORTANT:
Starting from FactoryTalk Services Platform version 6.31.00, if you want to configure a disabled date for a user account, in the
    User Properties
    dialog box, select
    Disable date
, and then select a future date.
    If you select
    Account is disabled
for a user account, the user account will be disabled immediately, even if it has not reached the disabled date.
User accounts in the network directory are separate from accounts in the
FactoryTalk
local directory. To disable accounts in both directories, disable the account in one directory, log off that directory, log on to the second directory, and disable the account in the second directory.
