How do I open Server Status?
Expand the
Explorer
window, right-click a server object, and then click Server Status
.Use
Server Status
to check the current state of a server, change a server's redundancy options, or manually switch between an active server and a standby server.If more than one server is running on a host computer, changes made through
Server Status
affect only the selected server pair. All other servers continue running independently. Setting | Description |
---|---|
Server status | Identifies the names of the computers hosting the primary and secondary servers and identifies the current state of each server. |
Primary server | Identifies the name of the computer on which the primary server is configured. |
Primary status | Identifies the current state of the primary server. |
Secondary server | If applicable, displays the name of the computer on which the secondary server is configured. If redundancy has not been configured, the Secondary Server box displays "Not configured." |
Secondary status | Identifies the current state of the secondary server in a redundant server pair. If redundancy has not been configured, the Secondary Status box displays "Not configured." |
Choose one of the two options to determine how redundant server pairs behave when a primary server becomes available again after having switched over to a secondary server.

Server switchover | To switch the active server, select Switchover . The system checks whether the standby server is ready to become active. If the standby server is not ready, the system sends an error message to FactoryTalk Diagnostics . To check for diagnostic messages, use the FactoryTalk Diagnostics Viewer.If the redundant server pair is configured to switch back to the primary server as soon as it becomes available again, the Switchover button is not available. |
