Group hardware resources in an application or area
Group hardware resources to manage their security settings through the application or area. Devices in a resource grouping inherit security permissions from their associated application or area.

Prerequisites
Grouping hardware resources together requires these permissions for the application or area:
- Common > Read
- Common > List Children
- Common > Configure Security
To group hardware resources in an application or area
- InFactoryTalk Administration ConsoleExplorer, right-click any application or area and then selectResource Editor.
- InResources Editor, selectManage Resources.Select Resourcesopens
- (optional) To create a new logical name that can be added to a resource grouping, selectAdd New Logical Name.
- Select the resource, either:
- Select the logical name of the resource. Expand theLogical Namestree until the device is visible.To filter the list of logical names:
- SelectShow only logical names not associated with areasto view the logical names for only those devices that are not already associated with an application or area.
- SelectShow all logical namesto view all logical names even if they are already associated with an application or area.
- Select the resource using its network relative path, expand theNetworks and Devicestree until the device is visible.
- After selecting the resource in the tree, use the>to move it into theSelected resourceslist.
- When finished, selectOK.
