New Computer
How do I open New Computer?
In the
Explorer
window, expand System
> Computers and Groups
, right-click Computers
, and then click New Computer.
For most installations, computers are automatically added to the FactoryTalk Directory when
a client computer joins the FactoryTalk Directory using the Specify FactoryTalk Directory
Location Tool. In rare cases, you may have to add computers to the FactoryTalk Directory
manually.
To allow a computer to access the
FactoryTalk
system, use New Computer
to add the computer account to the FactoryTalk
network directory. The
New Computer
command opens the computer properties sheet where the computer name and group
membership are configured. Complete the Computer
name setting in the General
tab to add the computer
account to the FactoryTalk Directory

Computer | (required) Type the name of the computer or select Browse (...) , and then select a computer name. If the computer does not yet exist on the network, the computer account can still be created in preparation for adding the computer later. When the computer is added to the network, the security settings defined for the computer name will automatically take effect. |
Description | (optional) Type descriptive information about the computer (Example: Operator workstation for South Building production line 1, for maintenance contact maintenance@yourcompany.com ). |
Member of | Displays the computer group accounts this computer account belongs to. |
Add | Adds this computer to one or more computer groups. |
Remove | Removes this computer from the group selected in Member of . |
