Modify the name of a computer, its description, and the computer groups to which it belongs in
General Computer Properties
.If a computer participating in a
FactoryTalk
network directory has an account in a Windows network directory, and if the name of that computer changes, update the computer account in the FactoryTalk
network directory to match the new Windows computer name for that computer. Updating the name of the computer account is not necessary for the FactoryTalk
local directory on any computer in the FactoryTalk
system because the FactoryTalk
local directory does not make use of computer accounts.Setting | Description |

Computer | (required) The name of the computer. To modify the computer name, type the name
of the computer in the space provided, or select Browse (...) , and then
select a computer name. |
Description | (optional) Descriptive information about the computer (Example: Operator workstation for South Building production line 1, for maintenance contact maintenance@yourcompany.com ). To modify the description, select the existing text, and then type updated information. |
Member of list | (read-only) Displays the computer group accounts this computer account belongs to. This list updates based on adding this computer to a computer group or removing this computer from a group. |
Add | (optional) To add this computer to one or more computer groups select Add . Then, in Select Computer Group , select the groups to which the computer account will belong, and then select OK . |
Remove | (optional) To remove this computer from a group, in the Member of list, select the computer group from which to remove this computer account, and then select Remove . |
