Resolve issues with the import (Import Issue Resolution dialog box)

While importing an
RSSecurity Server
database
, conflicts occur that must be resolved before the import can continue. If there are conflicts, the
Import Issue Resolution
dialog box opens.
To refer to import issues later, open the import log file. This file is located in the same location as the database .bak file.
To resolve issues with the import
  1. Do one of the following:
    • To change an action, select the action, and then select a different action in the list. See descriptions of
      Merge
      ,
      Replace
      , and
      Skip
      below.
    • To rename an item, in the
      New name
column, enter a new name for the item. See the description of the
      Rename
      action below.
  2. To close the
    Import Issue Resolution
    dialog box, select
    Continue
    .
To resolve issues with items that already exist
If a user group, for example one named Operators, already exists in
FactoryTalk Directory
, decide whether to:
  • Merge
the two user groups with the same name
  • Rename
    the RSSecurity user group
  • Replace
    the
    FactoryTalk Security
    user group
  • Skip
    importing the RSSecurity group
Merge the two user groups with the same name
Merge the RSSecurity user group with an existing
FactoryTalk Security
user group of the same name. Example: Merge members of an RSSecurity Operators group with members of a
FactoryTalk Security
Operators group:
  • User accounts in the RSSecurity group
    that do not exist
    in the
    FactoryTalk Security
    group
    are added
    to the
    FactoryTalk Security
    group.
  • User accounts in the RSSecurity group that
    already exist
    in the
    FactoryTalk Security
    group
    remain unchanged
    in
    FactoryTalk Security
    . They are not overwritten.
  • User accounts already present in the
    FactoryTalk Security
user group but that do not exist in the RSSecurity group
    remain unchanged
    in the
    FactoryTalk Security
    user group.
PIC_Merge
Rename the RSSecurity user group
Rename the RSSecurity user group to import the RSSecurity user group into
FactoryTalk Security
with a new name. Any security settings associated with the RSSecurity user group are transferred to the
FactoryTalk Security
user group with the new name.
PIC_Rename
Replace the
FactoryTalk Security
user group
Replace the
FactoryTalk Security
user group with the RSSecurity user group. The original
FactoryTalk Security
user group is deleted and replaced by the RSSecurity group. All security permissions associated with the original
FactoryTalk Security
user group are also deleted.
PIC_Replace
Skip importing the RSSecurity user group
Skip importing the RSSecurity user group. This skips importing any other security settings that refer to the user group.
Example: If a resource defines security settings for the skipped user group, the resource will be skipped as well - there is a RSSecurity computer group named
Runtime Workstations
and an RSSecurity resource named
MY_PLC5
that references the computer group. The
MY_PLC5
resource is granting all users from
Runtime Workstations
the
RSLogix 5
\Go Online
action. If importing the
Runtime Workstations
group is skipped, the
MY_PLC5
resource referencing the group is also skipped. This means that none of the permissions assigned to the
MY_PLC5
resource are imported.
