DeviceNet Network Communication

The
DeviceNet®
network uses the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP™) to provide the control, configuration, and data collection capabilities for industrial devices. You can connect devices directly to plant-floor controllers without having to hard-wire each device into an I/O module.
In the following example, a
ControlLogix®
controller is connected to the
DeviceNet®
network and devices via the 1788-EN2DNR linking device.
For more information about
DeviceNet®
modules and devices, see DeviceNet Modules in Logix 5000 Control Systems User Manual, publication DNET-UM004.
