Log on

Logging on to an application displays all screens for the assigned security role. Log on to the application using the configured password or PIN. Passwords and PINs appear as asterisks (*). All available screens appear in the
Navigation menu
.
To log on
  1. In the
    System Banner
    at the top of the screen, select Icon: ViewRTSysBannerLogOnIcon
    Log on
    . The
    Logon
    dialog box opens.
    TIP:
    If configured, an event can open the
    Logon
    dialog box. Contact the HMI Designer to identify events configured for the application.
  2. Log on using the configured method:
    • User name and password (local)
      .
      In the
      User Name
      box, use the
      Virtual Standard Keyboard
      that opens to select the keys and enter the user name. Do not use spaces. In the
      Password
      box, and select the keys to enter the case-sensitive password.
    • PIN.
      In the
      PIN
      box, use the
      Virtual Numeric Keypad
      that opens to select the keys to enter the personal identification number.
    • User name and password (domain).

  3. Select
    Log on
    . The
    Logon
    dialog box closes. The name of the logged on user appears in the
    System Banner
    .
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • To log on as a different user, open the
      Logon
      dialog box, enter a different user name and password or PIN, and then select
      Log on
      .
    • If the log on fails, the
      Logon
      dialog displays the message
      Log on unsuccessful for (name)
      . The
      Logon
      dialog box remains open and the current user remains logged on.
