Add a PDF document to a project

Add a PDF document to the
Documents
folder of the
Project Explorer
to add that PDF document to the project. To view the PDF document on an HMI device, add a PDF graphic element or PDF Viewer Add-On Graphic to the screen or popup and reference the PDF document.
To add a PDF document to a project
  1. In the
    Project Explorer
    , expand the
    Assets
    folder, right-click the
    Documents
    folder, and click
    New Documents
    to browse for PDF files.
  2. Select one or more PDF documents, and click
    Open
    . The PDF document appear alphabetically in the
    Documents
    folder.
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • Adding a PDF graphic element to a screen and browsing to select a new PDF document to display adds the PDF document to the
      Documents
      folder of the project.
    • When adding a PDF document with the same file name as another PDF document in the
      Documents
      folder, a prompt appears asking to replace the existing PDF or click
      Cancel
      . To keep both PDF documents, rename the PDF document before adding it to the
      Documents
      folder.
    • After adding the PDF document, to see the PDF file name, type, and size, select the PDF in the
      Documents
      folder and expand the
      General
      category in the
      Properties
      window.
    • View Designer
      removes invalid characters and characters over the limit are 40 from the name of a PDF document. For example, 1 Document.PDF becomes Document.PDF and 1.PDF becomes File_1.PDF. If a file name only contains invalid characters, File_ is pre-pended to the name.
