Startup component settings

The following table shows options in the page.
Option
Description
Application type
Select a type of application that the client will connect to, including:
  • Network Distributed
  • Network Station
  • Local Station
Note:
All the components for a local station application are located on the same computer as the application's HMI server.
Connect to the application
Select an application that the client will connect to.
Initial language
Select an initial language that the client will run in.
  • The languages in the list for the initial runtime language, are those that have been added to the application selected for this client to connect to. They are not necessarily installed on the client computer. Languages that are installed on the computer are listed in the
    Regional and Languages
    formats in Windows
    Control Panel
    .
  • If you select an application that has not had a default language assigned to it, for example if it was created in RSView 4.0, the language you select to open the application in becomes the default language.
  • You can change the formats in the Windows Region and Language so that the display of
    FactoryTalk View
matches the standards or language used in the country or region where you are located.
HMI server name
Select an HMI server that the client will connect to.
Initial display
Type or select an initial display for the client.
If you want to open multiple displays when the client loads, use a startup macro containing the displays you plan to load.
Note:
This field is not available if the
Multi-monitor
option is enabled. To configure the field, go to the
Client window properties
page under the
Advanced settings
page.
Display parameters
Type the
Display
command parameters that will be used when the display is opened.
For example, you can use one of the docking position parameters (
DT
,
DB
,
DL
, or
DR
) to attach the display to the top, bottom, left, or right edge of the FactoryTalk View SE Client window. You could also specify
P
, followed by a parameter file name, or
T
, followed by a list of parameter tags, to supply tags for a display that contains tag placeholders.
Note:
This field is not available if the
Multi-monitor
option is enabled. To configure the field, go to the
Client window properties
page under the
Advanced settings
page.
Initial client key
If a client key file is specified in this field, it is loaded when the
FactoryTalk View SE
Client is opened. You can type the name of a client key file or click the down arrow to display a list of the existing client key files and then select one.
Startup macro
If a startup macro is going to be used, specify the
FactoryTalk View
command or macro that is to run when the
FactoryTalk View SE
Client is opened. To do this, type its name here or click the down arrow to display a list of the existing macros and then select one.
Shutdown macro
If a shutdown macro is going to be used, specify the
FactoryTalk View
command or macro that is to be run when the
FactoryTalk View SE
Client is shut down. To do this, type its name here or click the down arrow to display a list of the existing macros and then select one. The shutdown command or macro must be one that is issued from the client but processed on the server, not on the client, because it runs after the client shuts down.
