Login and logout

For security to be effective, all users must have an Account ID to log in. Set up the IDs in the

User Accounts

dialog box.

To allow users to log in, create a login button in a graphic display that all users have access to, such as the startup graphic display.

To allow users to log out, create a logout button in a graphic display that all users have access to, such as the startup graphic display. When a user logs out, the user becomes a default user. Be sure that the default user privileges are carefully controlled.

You can also set up your runtime terminal to log out the current user automatically after the terminal has been inactive for a specified period of time. The automatic logout is independent of the security configuration of

FactoryTalk

user accounts or Windows Account security.

To set up automatic logout, specify the auto logout settings on the

Runtime

tab or the

Inactivity

tab of the

Project Settings

dialog box.
