Add Windows users or groups to the 3.20 and earlier Accounts list

The following procedure applies only to accounts in the
ME Runtime
3.20 and earlier tab of the
Runtime Security
editor. To add Windows-linked users or groups to
FactoryTalk Security
, see Add users or groups to
FactoryTalk Security
.
In the
Windows Security Options
dialog box, you can add Windows users or domain groups to the
FactoryTalk
View user accounts list. All users must be in the same Windows domain. The users and groups that you add will have the default security access specified for the Default user. By default, all the account codes A-P will be enabled for the Default user. You can customize the individual user's or groups' security codes in the
Runtime Security
editor.
You can use a private list of users or a list of users and groups from the Windows Domain, but not both. If you choose to use Windows groups and users, any users that you have set up in the
Runtime Security
editor will be deleted.
To add Windows users or groups to the FactoryTalk View user accounts
  1. In the
    Runtime Security
    editor, select
    Windows Security Options
    from the Setup menu.
  2. Select the
    Use Windows Accounts as source for FactoryTalk View User Accounts
    check box. This will delete any users presently listed in the
    Runtime Security
    editor.
  3. In the
    Windows Domain
    box, select the Windows domain that contains the users you are going to add to the
    FactoryTalk View
    user accounts. All users must be in the same Windows domain.
  4. To add all the members of the Windows Users or Groups list to the
    FactoryTalk View
    User Accounts list, click the
    Double arrow
    (>>).
    To add a single member of the Windows Users or Groups to the
    FactoryTalk View
    User Accounts list, click a member to select it and then click the
    Right arrow
    (>) to add it.
    To add selected users or groups, Ctrl-click the members you want to add and then click the
    Double arrow
    (>>) to copy them into the FactoryTalk View User Accounts list.
  5. Click
    OK
    to return to the main
    Runtime Security
    window where the members of the user accounts list will be shown.
  6. Edit the new accounts.
To remove members from the FactoryTalk View User Accounts list
  1. In the
    Runtime Security
    editor, select
    Windows Security Options
    from the
    Setup
    menu.
  2. Click a user or group to select it, or Ctrl-click to select more than one, and then click
    Remove
    to delete the selected members from the list.
    TIP:
    Entries in the Windows
    Users or Groups
    list are in alphabetical order with the domain groups listed first, followed by the users.
    A maximum of 255 user accounts can be added to the application.
Options
  • Windows Domain
    This list shows the local and network Windows domains that are available on the machine that
    FactoryTalk View
    is installed on. Select the domain you are going to choose users from. If you have selected users from one domain, and then choose another domain, the
    FactoryTalk View
    User list in this dialog box is cleared.
  • Windows Users or Groups
    This list displays all the users in the currently selected Windows domain.
  • FactoryTalk View
    User
    This list displays whatever users you have added from the Windows domain user accounts list. You can remove individual users from this list.
