Add users or groups to FactoryTalk Security

Users and groups must be part of
FactoryTalk Security
before they can be added to Runtime Security in
FactoryTalk View ME
.
You can add users to
FactoryTalk Security
through the Runtime Security editor in
FactoryTalk View ME
, or through the
Users
and
Groups
folders in the System folder at the bottom of the Explorer window.
FactoryTalk Security
users can be granted or denied security permissions at all levels of
FactoryTalk Security
from the FactoryTalk directory level down.
Once users and groups have been added to security, you can add them to your application through the
Runtime Security
editor.
TIP:
It is advisable to create groups first, and grant the appropriate permissions to the group. This allows you to create a security structure without the need to know exactly who the users will be. When users are added to the group, they inherit the permissions granted to the group. If necessary, individual users can later be denied specific permissions.
A maximum of 255 user accounts can be added to the application.
