Set up common properties (Common tab)

Some properties, such as size and position, are common to all graphic objects. These properties are set up through the
Common
tab in the
Properties
dialog box.
To set the common properties for the object
  1. In the
    Graphics
editor, double-click the object to open its
    Properties
    dialog box.
  2. Click the
    Common
    tab.
  3. Specify the common properties for the object.
Options
  • Size
    • Height
Specify the number of pixels for the object's height (including borders).
    • Width
Specify the number of pixels for the object's width (including borders).
  • Position
    • Top
Specify the number of pixels for the distance between the top of the display and the top edge of the object. The number must be positive. To specify a negative number, which will position part or all of the object off-screen, use the
      Property
      Panel.
    • Left
Specify the number of pixels for the distance between the left edge of the display and the left edge of the object. The number must be positive. To specify a negative number, which will position part or all of the object off-screen, use the
      Property
      Panel.
If the objects shape is Circle or Ellipse, the size and position properties refer to the object's bounding box.
  • Other
    • Name
Type the name of the object. The name must start with a letter and cannot contain spaces. You can use numbers and the underscore character (_).
    • Visible
Clear this check box if you want the object to be invisible at runtime.
If you use Visibility animation, its setting will override this setting.
      TIP:
If an object is not visible at runtime, it is not functional. Clicks or touches on an invisible object pass through the object to whatever is behind it.
  • For trend objects and third-party ActiveX objects, assign the following properties
    • Key Navigation
Check this box to allow the user to navigate to the object using the keyboard and give the object input focus.
    • Focus Highlight
Check this box if you want the object to have a highlight box displayed around it when it has input focus at runtime.
