Import alarms

When you select the import operation in the
Alarm Import Export Wizard Select Operation
dialog box, the
Select Destination
dialog box opens. Specify the alarm configuration file to import to the application. The imported file must be a well-formed XML file.
TIP:
  • To check if an XML file is well-formed, open the file in Internet Explorer. If the file is not well-formed, Internet Explorer will show an error message. If the file shows without errors, it is well-formed.
  • If the file to be imported contains any characters other than English, be sure the file is saved in UTF-8 format before importing.
  • PanelView Plus 7 Standard applications have a limit of 500 alarm messages. PanelView Plus 6 Compact applications have a limit of 200 alarm messages. If the alarm messages in the XML file exceed the limits, the import will fail and an error message will be shown.
To import an alarm file
  1. Click the
    Browse
    button to open the
    File Browser
    dialog box.
  2. In the
    File Browser
    dialog box, from the
    File Types
    list, select
    .xml (Alarm) files
    or
    .bak (Alarm Backup) files
    .
  3. Select the file that you want to import and click
    OK
    .
  4. Click
    Finish
    .
The Alarm Import Export Wizard will close. If you chose to back up your present configuration, the backup file will be created and stored (with a .bak extension) and then the specified configuration file will be imported into the current application. If you chose not to create a backup, the import occurs immediately. The existing configuration file is overwritten by the imported file, whether it has been backed up or not.
If errors occur during the import, they are logged to a text file named AlarmImportLog.txt in the application folder. For example, for an ME application named "Alarm1", the error log would be in
\Users\Public\Public Documents\RSView Enterprise\ME\HMI Projects\Alarm1
by default.
