Default graphic displays

To help you get your project up and running as quickly as possible,
FactoryTalk View Studio
creates several default graphic displays that are pre-configured for a typical application. The default displays are created when you create the project.
The application creates these default displays:
  • [ALARM] - appears when alarms are triggered. Use this display to notify the operator when a dangerous or critical situation occurs.
  • [DIAGNOSTICS] - appears when certain system activity occurs. Use this display to notify the operator of information messages, warnings, errors, and audit messages from the application.
  • [INFORMATION] - appears when configured messages are triggered. Use this display to give the operator runtime messages about information that requires immediate attention.
  • MAIN - It is the default startup graphic display. You can specify other initial graphic display in the Startup editor.
You can use the default displays as is, modify them, or create your own displays.
To edit a default display
  1. Open the display by doing one of the following:
    • In the
      Explorer
      window, open the
      Displays
      list in the
      Graphics
folder, and then double-click the name of the graphic file to edit.
    • Drag and drop the name of the display from the
      Displays
      list onto the right pane.
      TIP:
To open the [ALARM], [DIAGNOSTICS], or [INFORMATION] display, you can also click the
      Edit
button in the Alarm Setup, Diagnostics List Setup, or Information Setup editor.
  2. Use the tools and menu options available in the
    Graphics
editor to modify the graphic display.
  3. Save the graphic display. If you want to keep the original default display unchanged for future reference, choose
    Save As
to give the modified display a new name.
    TIP:
Copies of the default graphic displays are also available in the
    Graphics Libraries
    .
