What happens when you upgrade terminal firmware

When you upgrade a runtime terminal's firmware:
  • If the version of Windows CE in the upgrade firmware is different than the version on the terminal, the Windows CE operating system is replaced.
  • All the existing firmware files on the terminal's internal storage are deleted.
  • All existing files on the battery-backed RAM are deleted.
  • All existing Windows registry settings are deleted.
  • No
    FactoryTalk View ME Station
    runtime files (*.mer) are deleted.
  • No files in any external storage device are deleted.
  • All the components of the upgrade firmware specified by the user are installed.
The Firmware Upgrade Wizard installs the firmware upgrade files on the terminal. The upgrade process is completed when the terminal is restarted.
TIP:
After you upgrade the firmware on a
PanelView Plus 7
or
PanelView Plus 6
terminal, you may need to recalibrate the terminal.
