Roles

When you create a new project in DataMosaix, by default, a few predefined roles are also generated. A role represents the specific function or responsibility assigned to a user. Conceptually, a role is the role a user plays in an organization. Examples include engineering roles, IT administrator roles, or managerial roles. In the DataMosaix platform, it is a set of capabilities as defined by capability groups. These capability groups are then assigned to specific roles, allowing users to be associated with one or more roles based on their required access and permissions.
You can choose the required role based on your requirements and the capabilities and actions applied to it.
For example, the
Application Developer
role has the associated capability group -
FTDM-Grp-Applications
(predefined). From the
Roles Listing
page, you can open the Application Developer role and view the capability group details such as the capabilities and actions applied to it. The
FTDM-Grp-Applications
capability group has the following capabilities and actions applied:
  • datasetsAcI: read | write
  • filesAcI: read | write
  • dataModelsAcI: read
  • dataModellnstancesAcI: read
Project Admin users can create customized roles from available groups and apply them to applications and members. The
Roles
tab displays the custom and default roles listed within the organization along with the role’s description, associated groups, when it was last updated, and the role type (custom or default) details.
To find the list of Default Roles, and the Capability Groups associated with it, refer to Default Roles.
You can create a custom role and apply the required capability group to suit your needs if the default role does not fulfill them. You can find the differences between a Default and Custom role from the following figure:
Custom & Default Roles
NOTE: Default roles have pre-defined capabilities and these capabilities are not modifiable.
Prerequisites
  • You have the Project Administrator role assigned.
