Configure extended properties for a specific device asset
While adding a device asset to the asset tree or editing an existing device asset's properties, configure its extended properties as needed.
You can add up to 20 extended properties. The property names cannot be duplicated, empty, or exceed 256 characters. The property value cannot exceed 256 characters.
To configure extended properties for a specific device asset
- If you are not in Design mode, click
. - In the device asset's properties dialog box, under theExtended Propertiescategory, click theProperties Configurationbox, and then click the browse button.
- Edit, add, or delete extended properties:
- To edit existing extended properties, click the cell of theProperty NameorProperty Valuecolumn, and then edit the property name or value.
- To add extended properties:
- If this is the first time of configuration, click the empty cell of theProperty NameandProperty Valuecolumns, and then enter the property name and value.
- If one or multiple extended properties exist, clickAddto generate an empty row, click the empty cell of theProperty NameandProperty Valuecolumn, and then enter the property name and value.TIP:The property name cannot be empty while the property value could be empty.As you enter a property name on the bottom row, an empty row is generated beneath it, making it easy for you to configure another extended property. Double-clicking the empty cell of the bottom row also generates an empty row beneath it.Only one empty row can be added each time. If an empty row already exists or is just generated, clickingAddopens a message window, indicating that the property name cannot be empty.
- To delete extended properties, click
to select a single extended property, or click
to select all the extended properties, click Delete, and then clickYeswhen prompted to confirm.
- ClickOK.
