Items in Add Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 Controller dialog box
Items in the dialog box include:
- (Parent)(Read-only) Shows the name of the container into which the controller is being added.
- Description(Optional) Type a description for the controller. The description will be shown in theArchivetab when the controller is selected in the asset tree. The description can be a maximum of 260 characters.
- NameEnter a unique and meaningful name for the device. This name will appear in the asset tree. The software defaults toAllen-Bradley Logix5000 Controller. The name must be unique within the parent container. That is, you can have two devices with the same name in the asset tree, they just can't be in the same container. If you add a device into a container that already has a device of the same name, FactoryTalk AssetCentre will append a number (like_2) to the device name to ensure uniqueness.Asset names can be a maximum of 260 characters. The characters \ / : * ? " < > | are not allowed. The character pair &# is not allowed. A space, tab, underscore (_) or dollar sign ($) cannot be the first character in a name, but can be used elsewhere in the name. The following Microsoft Windows device names cannot be used as asset names, whether upper or lower case, with or without the colon: CON:, PRN:, AUX:, NUL:, COM1:, COM2:, COM3:, COM4:, COM5:, COM6:, COM7:, COM8:, COM9:, LPT1:, LPT2:, LPT3:, LPT4:, LPT5:, LPT6:, LPT7:, LPT8:, and LPT9. For example,Auxiliary Linewould be a valid name whereasAux Linewould not.
- Addressing InfoClick in this field and then click
to browse the network for the Logix 5000 controller that you want to add. When you have found the desired controller, select it and click Select. - Catalog Information(Read-only) The Rockwell Automation catalog number of the controller to which you are connected, for example, 1756-L63. This is filled in automatically when you browse for the addressing information.
- Change Detect Capable(Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 controllers only)The software sets this value when you browse for the controller in theAddressing Infofield. If the controller supports and is configured for change detection, then this value is set toTrue. If not, it is set toFalse. If this field is empty it means that theAddressing Infofield has not yet been used to browse for the controller.When this value is either set toFalseor blank, the controller is not shown in the list of assets when setting up a Device Monitor - Change Detect schedule.
- Configuration DataClick in this field and then click
to select the ACD file for the controller. This associates the ACD file with the device in FactoryTalk AssetCentre and adds the file to Archive. - Device Name(Read-only) The name of the controller to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically when you browse for the addressing information.
- Firmware Revision(Read-only) The firmware revision of the controller to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically when you browse for the addressing information.
- Hardware Revision(Optional) Enter the hardware series and revision of the controller to which you are (or will be) connected.
- Hardware Serial Number(Read-only) The hardware serial number of the controller to which you are (or will be) connected.
- Hardware Type(Read-only) The type of Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 controller to which you are connected, for example, 1756-L63 Logix5563. This is filled in automatically when you browse for the addressing information.
- MAC Address(Read-only) The MAC address of the device to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically if the device selected in theSelect Device for Asset Typedialog box is valid.
- Manufacture Date(Read-only) The manufacture date of the device to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically if the device selected in theSelect Device for Asset Typedialog box is valid.
- Manufacturer(Read-only) The manufacturer is automatically filled in with Rockwell Automation - Allen Bradley.
- Series(Read-only) The series of the device to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically if the device selected in theSelect Device for Asset Typedialog box is valid.
- Source Code Validation Capable(ControlLogix 5580, GuardLogix 5580, CompactLogix 5380, CompactLogix 5480, or Compact GuardLogix 5380 controller only)The property is read-only. The software will set this value asTruewhen you specify a ControlLogix 5580, GuardLogix 5580, CompactLogix 5380, CompactLogix 5480, or Compact GuardLogix 5380 controller of version 34 or later in theAddressing Infofield. Otherwise, this value is set asFalse. If this field is empty, it means that you did not specify theAddressing Infofield.For any existing assets or assets that have been upgraded, this property will not automatically update. Re-browse the device'sAddressing Infofield to update the property.
- Warranty Number(Read-only) The warranty number of the device to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically if the device selected in theSelect Device for Asset Typedialog box is valid.
- Agent GroupClick in this field and then click
to select the agent group for the controller.- When adding the controller under the root, the default value of Agent Group isSystem Default.
- When adding the controller under a container, the default value of Agent Group isInherit from parent: the parent container’s Agent Group property.
- Asset Number(Optional) Enter an asset number for management or inventory purposes.
- Location(Optional) Enter information about the controller's location in your facility.
- Serial Number(Optional) Enter the controller's serial number.
- Properties Configuration(Optional) This box shows the number of default extended properties configured by theOptions dialog box: Extended Properties. To configure extended properties for the asset, click in this box, and then click
. In the Extended Propertiesdialog box, edit, add, or delete extended properties. - Controller I/O Listing(Optional) This box shows the number of configured I/O modules associated with the device. To configure I/O modules, click in the box, and then click
. In the Controller I/Odialog box, manually add or delete I/O modules, or automatically load I/O modules from the latest or pinned version of the configuration data file.
