Items in the Advanced Settings dialog box

Items in the dialog box include:
  • General settings
    Maximum scanning time [min]
    Set the maximum number of minutes after the Asset Inventory agent service stops scanning and shows the results it has gathered. If the maximum scanning time is reached, the scan will stop even if all devices have not been found.
    TIP:
    Make sure the value you type in the
    Maximum scanning time [min]
     field is not greater than the value specified in the associated field in the
    Options: Asset Inventory
     dialog box. Otherwise, the value cannot be successfully saved.
  • Scan devices using CIP
    Device response timeout [msec]
    Set the number of milliseconds after the Asset Inventory agent service stops querying a device.
    Node identification timeout [sec]
    Set the number of seconds after the Asset Inventory agent service stops discovering devices on a network node and skips to the next one.
    TIP:
    Make sure the value you type in the
    Device response timeout [msec]
     or
    Node identification timeout [sec]
    fields is not greater than the value specified in the associated field in the
    Options: Asset Inventory
     dialog box. Otherwise, the value cannot be successfully saved.
  • Scan devices using SNMP
    Community string
    Type the SNMP community string.
    Device response timeout [msec]
    Set the number of milliseconds after the Asset Inventory agent service stops querying a device.
    TIP:
    Make sure the value you type in the
    Device response timeout [msec]
     field is not greater than the value specified in the associated field in the
    Options: Asset Inventory
     dialog box. Otherwise, the value cannot be successfully saved.
  • Scan software using WMI
    Host response timeout [msec]
    Set the number of milliseconds after the Asset Inventory agent service stops querying a host.
    TIP:
    Make sure the value you type in the
    Host response timeout [msec]
     field is not greater than the value specified in the associated field in the
    Options: Asset Inventory
     dialog box. Otherwise, the value cannot be successfully saved.
    Software scanning mode
    • Asynchronous
      : choose this mode to send multiple queries to IP addresses at a time. It may slow down the network performance.
    • Synchronous
      : choose this mode to send one query at a time. This option is recommended for a slower network connection.
