Items in Add ABB Robot dialog box
Items in the dialog box include:
- (Parent)(Read-only) Shows the name of the container into which the robot is being added.
- Description(Optional) Type a description for the robot. The description will be shown in theArchivetab when the robot is selected. The description can be a maximum of 260 characters.
- NameEnter a unique and meaningful name for the robot. This name will appear in the asset tree. The software defaults toABB Robot. The name must be unique within the parent container. That is, you can have two devices with the same name in the asset tree, they just can't be in the same container. If you add a device into a container that already has a device of the same name, FactoryTalk AssetCentre will append a number (like_2) to the device name to ensure uniqueness.Asset names can be a maximum of 260 characters. The characters \ / : * ? " < > | are not allowed. The character pair &# is not allowed. A space, tab, underscore (_) or dollar sign ($) cannot be the first character in a name, but can be used elsewhere in the name. The following Microsoft Windows device names cannot be used as asset names, whether upper or lower case, with or without the colon: CON:, PRN:, AUX:, NUL:, COM1:, COM2:, COM3:, COM4:, COM5:, COM6:, COM7:, COM8:, COM9:, LPT1:, LPT2:, LPT3:, LPT4:, LPT5:, LPT6:, LPT7:, LPT8:, and LPT9. For example,Auxiliary Linewould be a valid name whereasAux Linewould not.
- Addressing InfoClick in this field and then click
to specify the IP address at which this robot can be found, as well as the port and the username and password for access to the robot. - Catalog Information(Optional) Enter the manufacturer's catalog number for the robot.
- Configuration DataClick in this field and then click
to select the folder with the configuration files for the robot. This associates the folder with the device in FactoryTalk AssetCentre and adds the folder to Archive (if it is not already). - Device Name(Optional) The name of the physical robot to which you are (or will be) connected.
- Firmware Revision(Optional) Enter the version number of the robot's firmware.
- Hardware Revision(Optional) Enter version information for the robot's hardware.
- Hardware Type(Read-only) The Hardware Type is automatically filled in with ABB Robot.
- Manufacturer(Read-only) The Manufacturer is automatically filled in with ABB.
- Agent GroupClick in this field and then click
to select the agent group for the robot.- When adding the robot under the root, the default value of Agent Group isSystem Default.
- When adding the robot under a container, the default value of Agent Group isInherit from parent: the parent container’s Agent Group property.
- Asset Number(Optional) Enter an asset number for management or inventory purposes.
- Location(Optional) Enter information about the robot's location in your facility.
- Serial Number(Optional) Enter the robot's serial number.
- Upload DirectorySpecify the directory in the robot from which files will be uploaded during a Disaster Recovery operation.
- To specify the root directory, leave this field blank.
- To specify a directory other than the root, type the directory name followed by a slash (/). For example, if you want to use a robot directory calledDatayou would type:Data/Only files in the specified directory are uploaded for the Disaster Recovery operation. Subdirectories are ignored.
- Properties Configuration(Optional) This box shows the number of default extended properties configured by theOptions dialog box: Extended Properties. To configure extended properties for the asset, click in this box, and then click
. In the Extended Propertiesdialog box, edit, add, or delete extended properties.
