Stratix Switch Address dialog box

How do I open the Stratix Switch Address dialog box?
You can open the
Stratix Switch Address
dialog box while adding an Allen-Bradley Stratix Switch asset to the asset tree or while editing the asset's properties.
While adding an asset to the asset tree:
  1. If you are not in Design mode, click design_mode_button.
  2. Drag an asset from the Asset Catalog to add it to the Asset View.
  3. Click anywhere within the
    Addressing Info
    field, and then click browse_button_small.
While editing an asset's properties:
  1. If you are not in Design mode, click design_mode_button.
  2. Double-click an asset in the asset tree.
  3. Click anywhere within the
    Addressing Info
    field, and then click browse_button_small.
Use the
Stratix Switch Address
dialog box to supply IP address, connection type, and user credentials for the physical device that you want to connect to and add as an asset.
The following table lists the properties in the dialog box.
Properties
Descriptions
IP Address
Enter the IP Address of the Stratix Switch.
Port
Enter the port number connecting to the Stratix Switch.
By default, the
SSH
connection type uses port 22 while the
Telnet
connect type uses port 23. Work with your system administrator to determine the correct port number.
Connection type
Choose a connection type:
  • SSH
. Allows the Secure Shell session on the switch and provides more security for remote connections than Telnet does.
  • Telnet
. Allows Telnet sessions on the switch and provides TCP/IP connections to the switch.
To determine which one to choose, you need to know the configured access to the Stratix Switch and if it's turned on. To check the enabled access, log on to the Stratix Switch Device Manager:
  • For devices that were initially configured with the Express Setup mode, go to Admin > Express Setup > Advanced Settings, and then see if SSH or Telnet is turned on.
  • For devices that are under regular operation, go to Admin > Access Management, and then see which option is turned on.
For detailed information about the Stratix Switch configuration, ask your system administrator.
User name
Enter the user name to log on to the Stratix Switch.
Password
Enter the password of the user name.
Enable Password
Enter the password that is required to perform specific operations of a higher privilege within Stratix Switch.
The Enable Password is a password that allows you to enter the privileged mode while managing the device where you can perform more operations that are not available on the level using just the Password.
Test Connection
Click this button to validate whether the IP address, port number, connection type, and credentials are all correct.
  • If all information is valid, "Successful" shows next to the
    Test Connection
    button.
  • If any information is invalid, the pertinent error message shows next to the
    Test Connection
    button.
Tip
: In certain cases, after clicking
Test Connection
, the
Stratix Switch Address
dialog box stops responding before showing the connection failed message. You need to wait for several seconds for the system to be responsive.
