Defining a Modbus Slave

SlaveThe AADvance controller can operate as a
Modbus®
slave, supporting up to a maximum of 10 Modbus
slaves on each processor module. A controller with three processor modules supports up to 30 Modbus
slaves.
TIP:
As a
Modbus
slave device, the
controller only transmits data upon a request from a Modbus
master and
does not communicate with other slaves.When configuring a controller as a
Modbus
slave, select whether the slave uses a serial or Ethernet connection. The connection type affects the slave properties like the available protocols and ports.To define a
Modbus
slave- In theCommunication View, expand the required controller, and then expand theelement.ModbusTheMODBUS SlaveandMODBUS Masterelements are displayed.
- Right-click theMODBUS Slaveelement, and then clickAdd New Slave.
- In theCommunication View, double-click the slave instance, then in theCommunicationproperty page, select the connection type and define the required properties.
