Create a user-defined library
Create a user-defined library to create a collection of predefined objects for use
within your project. You can copy and paste only single library objects in the
Library
explorer.- In the explorer bar, select
Library. - Right-clickUser-defined librariesand selectCreate user-defined library.
- InCreate user-defined library, complete:
- Name. Enter a unique name for the library.
- Description. Enter an optional description of the contents in the library.
- Version. Enter a unique version number for the library.
- SelectCreate.The user-defined library appears inLibraryexplorer with sub-folders for Add-On Instructions, Smart Objects, Data Types, and String Types.
- To add contents to the user-defined library:TIP: The name of any object that you create in a user-defined library is preceded by the library name. For example, a smart named object SO_A will be appear as <Library Name>.SO_A. Any object created in theProject Libraryhas only the name of the smart object. For example, SO_A.TIP: Objects contained inProject Libraryare not available for reference when you create content in a user-defined library.TIP: You cannot copy content, such as a Smart Object, from a user-defined library and paste it intoSystemexplorer. You must create the object inSystemexplorer, select the option toCreate an instance from a definition, and then specify the library definition from which to create the Smart Object.
- (optional) You can Share a user-defined library to make its object definitions for Add-On Instructions, Smart Objects, and Data Types available for others to use in their projects.
