Create a user-defined library

Create a user-defined library to create a collection of predefined objects for use within your project. You can copy and paste only single library objects in the
Library
explorer.
  1. In the explorer bar, select Library icon
    Library
    .
  2. Right-click
    User-defined libraries
    and select
    Create user-defined library
    .
  3. In
    Create user-defined library
    , complete:
    • Name
. Enter a unique name for the library.
    • Description
. Enter an optional description of the contents in the library.
    • Version
. Enter a unique version number for the library.
  4. Select
    Create
    .
    The user-defined library appears in
    Library
explorer with sub-folders for Add-On Instructions, Smart Objects, Data Types, and String Types.
  5. To add contents to the user-defined library:
TIP: The name of any object that you create in a user-defined library is preceded by the library name. For example, a smart named object SO_A will be appear as <Library Name>.SO_A. Any object created in the
    Project Library
has only the name of the smart object. For example, SO_A.
    TIP: Objects contained in
    Project Library
are not available for reference when you create content in a user-defined library.
TIP: You cannot copy content, such as a Smart Object, from a user-defined library and paste it into
    System
explorer. You must create the object in
    System
    explorer, select the option to
Create an instance from a definition
, and then specify the library definition from which to create the Smart Object.
  6. (optional) You can Share a user-defined library to make its object definitions for Add-On Instructions, Smart Objects, and Data Types available for others to use in their projects.
