System Security

The AADvance or
Trusted®
system uses Ethernet networks, potentially exposing the system to accidental or malicious infection or attack. To protect the system, you must configure the following:
  • Network Firewall
  • Windows Firewall
  • Antivirus
To ensure the system is secure, perform the following general security steps:
  • The AADvance or
    Trusted
system must not be connected to a network with open unsecured access to the internet.
  • A router firewall must be active on the workstation, preventing access to the unused Ethernet ports on each communication interface.
  • An up-to-date anti-virus software must be installed on the workstation.
IMPORTANT: You may need to temporarily disable firewalls when using the AADvance Discover tool.
  • The workstation must be password protected and locked when unattended.
  • The AADvance application must be password protected if the program enable key is not used on the system.
  • The
    Trusted
application must be password protected if the maintenance enable key switch is not in the Run position.
TIP: Since serial networks are closed, local, and have limited protocol functionality, they are immune to external attacks (apart from deliberate local sabotage).
