System Security
The AADvance or
Trusted®
system uses Ethernet networks, potentially exposing the system to accidental or malicious infection or attack. To protect the system, you must configure the following:- Network Firewall
- Windows Firewall
- Antivirus
To ensure the system is secure, perform the following general security steps:
- The AADvance orTrustedsystem must not be connected to a network with open unsecured access to the internet.
- A router firewall must be active on the workstation, preventing access to the unused Ethernet ports on each communication interface.
- An up-to-date anti-virus software must be installed on the workstation.IMPORTANT: You may need to temporarily disable firewalls when using the AADvance Discover tool.
- The workstation must be password protected and locked when unattended.
- The AADvance application must be password protected if the program enable key is not used on the system.
- TheTrustedapplication must be password protected if the maintenance enable key switch is not in the Run position.TIP: Since serial networks are closed, local, and have limited protocol functionality, they are immune to external attacks (apart from deliberate local sabotage).
