Set up access permissions for a user to open but not modify an application

To restrict access to a
FactoryTalk View SE
 application, set up each user's security permissions in
FactoryTalk Security
.
To allow a user to open but not to modify an application, follow the steps below. All users with this set of permissions could open and run an application from a
FactoryTalk View SE
 client, as well as open it in
FactoryTalk View Studio
, but could not make changes to it.
TIP:
  • These permissions allow the user to log on to the application from a
    FactoryTalk View SE
     client at runtime.

To set up access permissions for a user to open but not modify an application:
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View SE
    , in the
    Explorer
     window, right-click the application icon and then click
    Security
    .
  2. In the
    Security Settings
     dialog box, in the
    Permissions
     tab, click the user you are setting up security for.
  3. In the
    All Actions
     list, click the box beside
    Common
     to expand the list of Common actions.
  4. In the
    Permissions
     list, beside the Common actions
    List Children
     and
    Read
    , select the
    Allow
     check box.
  5. If any other check boxes in the Allow or Deny column are checked, click each box to clear it.
  6. Click the box beside
    Tag
     to expand the list of tag actions. Make sure that the check boxes for
    Write Value
     are cleared in both columns.
  7. Click
    OK
     to save the security permissions for the user and close the application's
    Security Settings
     dialog.
