To allow a user to open but not to modify an application, follow the steps below. All users
with this set of permissions could open and run an application from a client, as well as open it in , but could not make changes to it.

- These permissions allow the user to log on to the application from aFactoryTalk View SEclient at runtime.

To set up access permissions for a user to open but not modify an application:
- In, in theFactoryTalk View SEExplorerwindow, right-click the application icon and then clickSecurity.
- In theSecurity Settingsdialog box, in thePermissionstab, click the user you are setting up security for.
- In theAll Actionslist, click the box besideCommonto expand the list of Common actions.
- In thePermissionslist, beside the Common actionsList ChildrenandRead, select theAllowcheck box.
- If any other check boxes in the Allow or Deny column are checked, click each box to clear it.
- Click the box besideTagto expand the list of tag actions. Make sure that the check boxes forWrite Valueare cleared in both columns.
- ClickOKto save the security permissions for the user and close the application'sSecurity Settingsdialog.
