Create an application

FactoryTalk View Studio
includes network distributed application, network station application, and local station application. The following steps use network distributed application as an example, including:
  • Create a network distributed application.
  • Add an area to the application.
  • Add an HMI server.
  • (optional) Customize the HMI projects folder.
To create a network distributed application
  1. Select
    Start >
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    .
  2. In the
    Application Type Selection
    dialog box, select the application type and click
    Continue
    .
  3. In the
    New/Open Site Edition Application
    dialog box, click the
    New
    tab.
  4. Type the name and description, select a default language, and click
    Create
    .
  5. (optional) To change the default folder of the HMI projects, use the HMI Projects Folder Path Config Utility to specify a new folder.
To add an area to the application
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    , in the Explorer window, right-click the application and select
    New Area
    .
  2. In the
    New Area
    dialog box, specify a name and description and click
    OK
    .
To add an HMI server
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    , in the Explorer window, right-click the application or an area name, select
    Add New Server
    , and then select
    HMI Server
    .
  2. In the
    Add HMI Server Wizard
    , in the
    Select Operation
    window, click
    Create a new HMI server
    .
  3. (optional) To add the Application Libraries, click the
    Add Application Library
    dropdown list, and then select one or multiple libraries.
  4. Click
    Next
    .
  5. Type a name and description for the HMI server, specify the host computer if applicable, and click
    Finish
    .
  6. (optional) To change the default folder of the HMI projects, use the HMI Projects Folder Path Config Utility to specify a new folder.
To customize the HMI projects folder
  1. Open the HMI Projects Folder Path Config Utility.
    TIP:
    You can find the utility from the Start menu or in C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockwell Software\RSView Enterprise.
    Make sure that the HMI project is not in use by FactoryTalk View Studio, FactoryTalk View Client, or FactoryTalk ME Station.
  2. Specify a new folder to store the HMI projects.
  3. Select
    Apply
    .
  4. Restart the HMI server computer.
