Create a local station application
In a local station application, also called a standalone application, all application components are located on a single computer. There is only one HMI server, which is created when you create the application, and the only area is the root area at the application icon. You cannot create additional areas.
By default, the HMI projects folder is in C:\Users\Public\Documents\RSView Enterprise\SE\HMI projects. You have the option to customize the location using the HMI Projects Folder Path Config Utility.
To create a local station application:
- SelectStart >.FactoryTalk View Studio
- In theApplication Type Selectiondialog box, select the application type and clickContinue.
- In theNew/Open Site Edition Applicationdialog box, click theNewtab.
- Type the name and description, select a default language, and clickCreate.
- (optional) To change the default folder of the HMI projects, use the HMI Projects Folder Path Config Utility to specify a new folder.
The dialog box includes the following options:
- Application nameType a name for the application using a maximum of 32 characters. You cannot change the name of an existing application. Extended ASCII characters or Unicode characters are not supported in the names for applications, areas, HMI servers, data servers, HMI tags,FactoryTalk Linxshortcuts, and FactoryTalk View Studio application files (.SED).
- DescriptionYou can use the Description box to add additional information about the application, such as its location, or a version number. It appears in the Application Properties (General tab) and can be changed at any time.
- LanguageThe language that is displayed is the language of the computer's operating system. You can use it or choose another. Whatever you choose will be the default language for the application.
- ImportClick this, instead of Create, if you want to create a new local station application by importing an existing HMI project.
Remarks:
- Alarmis a reserved word in FactoryTalk View SE and cannot be used as the name of a FactoryTalk View SE local station application.
- The list of languages in the Language box are all those Windows supports. They are not necessarily installed on the computer. Languages that are installed on the computer are listed in the Regional and Languages Options of Windows Control Panel.
- Names for the following FactoryTalk View Studio components do not support extended ASCII characters or Unicode characters: applications, areas, HMI servers, data servers, HMI tags,FactoryTalk Linxshortcuts, and FactoryTalk View Studio application files (.SED).
- You can add the Application Libraries after creating a local station application.Adding the Application Libraries affects the license counts because it adds extra displays to the application. Each added faceplate (.gfx file) counts as one display for activation purposes. The corresponding global object display (.ggfx file) does not add to the total license count.
