Change the name of an object

You can change a graphic object's name or add a tooltip for it in the
Property Panel
. The tooltip appears when the cursor rests on an object in a display for more than half a second.
To change the name of an object or specify a tooltip
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    , in the
    Graphics
    editor, right-click the object to select
    Property Panel
    .
  2. In the
    Property Panel
    dialog box, in the
    Properties
    tab, beside the
    (Name)
    property, type a new name.
    TIP:
    When you click another property in the tab, the name is saved and is displayed below the
    Property Panel
    title.
    The following are reserved names in the object model and should not be used to name a graphic object:
    Display
    ,
    ThisDisplay
    ,
    Application
    ,
    AlarmSummary
    , and
    Me
    .
  3. To specify a tooltip, beside the
    ToolTipText
    property, type the name.
