Ramp Button Properties - General tab

Options
Description
Border style
Select the border style. The default style is Line.
If the object is a rounded rectangle, circle, or ellipse, the available border styles are None and Line.
Border width
Type the number of pixels for the width of the object’s border.
Back style
Select whether the object background is solid, gradient, or transparent. If you select Transparent, the object’s background is not filled in and any objects behind it show through. If you select Gradient, the object's background is filled with a linear gradient color.
Pattern style
Select a pattern for the object. The pattern appears on the face of the object. The pattern does not cover the object’s border, caption, or image (if any are defined for the object). If the object’s back style is transparent or gradient, the pattern is not visible.
Shape
Select the shape of the object. If the object is a rounded rectangle, circle, or ellipse, the application applies properties such as size and position by measuring in relation to the object’s bounding box.
Tip
: Press
Ctrl
while dragging a corner of the shape to form a square button.
Corner radius
Available only when the shape is rounded rectangle. Specify how rounded you want the corners to be.
Border uses back color
Select this check box to use the object’s background color for the border of the button. If this is not selected, you can assign a separate color to the border, instead of using the object’s background color.
Back color
This field displays the current background color for the object. Click it to select another color. If the background style is transparent, the application does not use this background color.
Border color
This field displays the border color for the object or state. Click it to select another color. If Border uses back color, is not selected, this color appears at runtime.
Pattern color
This field displays the current pattern color for the object or state. Click it to select another color.
Highlight color
This field displays the current highlight color. Click it to select another color.
The button’s border, if any, changes to the highlight color when the operator presses the button at runtime.
Blink
Check this box if you want the object’s background to blink at runtime. The blink rate is twice per second. If you select a pattern style, the pattern also blinks.

Use variable lower/upper limit
Select this check box if you plan to use the Limit connection on the Connections tab to set the upper or lower limit for the ramp button. Click
Ramp up
to use the Limit connection to set the upper limit for the button. Click
Ramp down
to use the Limit connection to set the lower limit for the button. When this check box is selected, the
Upper/lower limit
field on this tab is not available.
Use variable ramp
Select this check box if you plan to use the Ramp connection on the Connections tab to ramp value for the ramp button. When this check box is selected, the
Ramp value
field on this tab is not available.
Ramp up
Select this button to create a ramp button that increases the Value connection's value.
Ramp down
Select this button to create a ramp button that decreases the Value connection's value.
Upper/Lower limit
For ramp up buttons, type the button’s upper limit, that is, the amount beyond which the button’s value cannot increase. For ramp down buttons, type the button’s lower limit, that is, the amount beyond which the button’s value cannot decrease. This sets the button's LimitValue property.
When the
Use variable lower/upper limit
check box in this tab is selected, this field is not available.
Ramp value
Type the amount to change the value by. Type a positive number. For ramp down buttons, the value is decreased by this amount. For ramp up buttons, the value is increased by this amount.
When the
Use variable ramp
check box in this tab is selected, this field is not available.
Tip:
If the ramp value is floating point and the Value connection is an integer tag, the application rounds the value before writing it to the tag.

Touch margins
of the

tab.

Description
Touch margins
You can specify a touch-insensitive margin inside the button’s edges. If the operator presses on the touch-insensitive margin, the button press is not registered.
Horizontal margin
Type the number of pixels for the horizontal touch margin. The horizontal margin is along the button’s left and right edges.
Vertical margin
Type the number of pixels for the vertical touch margin. The vertical margin is along the button’s top and bottom edges.

Description
Audio
Select this check box to sound an internal beeper when the button is pressed. If the computer running the application does not have an internal beeper, the button press does not trigger a beep.
