Button Properties - Down Appearance tab
The following table shows options under
General
of the Down Appearance
tab.Options | Description |

Back style | Select whether the object background is solid, gradient, or transparent. If you select Transparent, the object’s background is not filled in and any objects behind it show through. If you select Gradient, the object's background is filled with a linear gradient color. |
Pattern style | Click the down arrow to scroll the list of pattern styles and select one that will appear on the face of the button. The pattern does not cover the button's border, caption, or image. If the background style is transparent, the pattern is not visible. |
Fore color | Displays the default or current foreground color. Click to select another color. The foreground color is used for text and lines. |
Back color | Displays the default or current color for the background of the button. Click to select another color. If the background style is transparent the color is not used. |
Pattern color | Displays the default or current color for the pattern of the button. Click to select another color. |

Caption
of the Down Appearance
tab.Options | Description |

Caption | Type the text that will appear on the button face. The caption is displayed in the center of the button. If it is longer than the width of the button, the caption is truncated at either side. If you have added an embedded variable to the caption, the embedded variable syntax appears in the Caption field, but the text of the variable appears on the face of the object. |
Insert Variable | Adds an embedded variable to the caption. Click Insert Variable and then select the type of variable to be inserted in the caption. In the Variable dialog box, specify the details. After you have set up the embedded variable, the syntax appears in the Caption field. |
Font | Select a font for the caption, or click the browse button (...) to open the standard font dialog box that lets you select a font and specify how it is to look (except for font color). |
Size | Select a font size from the list. |
Bold (B), Italic (I), Underline (U) | Click a letter, or letters, to specify the font style for the caption, if required. |

Image settings
of the Down Appearance
tab.Options | Description |

Image settings | You can choose a pattern and color for the button face. You can also import a bitmap or icon to be displayed on the button face. |
No image | Select this if no bitmap, JPEG, PNG, SVG, or icon is to be displayed on the button. |
Use image reference | Select this to use an image from the current HMI project. This lets you reference the image from any button on a display in this HMI project. If you modify the image, the appearance of all buttons that have references to the image will also change. |
Image | Type the name of the image file or click the browse button (...) to select an image to reference using the Image Browser. If you add an image to the Image Browser, it is also added to the Images folder in the Explorer. |
Import file | Select this and then click the Import button to locate and select a bitmap or icon to display on the button. The imported graphic is placed in the center of the button and saved with it. The caption is displayed on top of the imported graphic. This does not add the image to the Images folder in the Explorer. |
Scale image | Select this check box to scale the image to fit within the dimensions of the button. This applies to both referenced and imported images. |
