Configure a RAS client
- In Windows NT Explorer, right-click theNetwork Neighborhoodicon and selectProperties.
- Under theServices tab, make sureRemote Access ServiceandSimple TCP/IP Serviceappear. If they do not appear, clickAdd, and select each of them from the list, and clickOK.
- SelectRemote Access Serviceand clickPropertiesto display theRemote Access Setupwindow.
- Select the appropriate RAS device. If no RAS device is available, clickAddand configure the device.
- ClickConfigureand selectDial out Only.
- Return to theRemote Access Setupwindow and clickNetwork.
- SelectTCP/IP.
- Return to theRemote Access Setupwindow and clickContinue.
- Open the Control Panel and selectServices.
- The following options should be Started and Automatic:
- Remote Access AutoDial Manager
- Remote Access Connection Manager
- Remote Access Service
- Simple TCP/IP Service
- Open My Computer and double-clickDial out Networking.
- Complete the following to create a new connection:
- Enter a connection name andNext.
- SelectSend my plain text password if that's the only way to connectand clickNext.
- Enter the phone number to connect to the server and clickNext.
- ClickFinishto complete your setup.
