Configure a RAS client

  1. In Windows NT Explorer, right-click the
    Network Neighborhood
    icon and select
    Properties
    .
  2. Under the
    Services tab
    , make sure
    Remote Access Service
    and
    Simple TCP/IP Service
    appear. If they do not appear, click
    Add
    , and select each of them from the list, and click
    OK
    .
  3. Select
    Remote Access Service
    and click
    Properties
    to display the
    Remote Access Setup
    window.
  4. Select the appropriate RAS device. If no RAS device is available, click
    Add
    and configure the device.
  5. Click
    Configure
    and select
    Dial out Only
    .
  6. Return to the
    Remote Access Setup
    window and click
    Network
    .
  7. Select
    TCP/IP
    .
  8. Return to the
    Remote Access Setup
    window and click
    Continue
    .
  9. Open the Control Panel and select
    Services
    .
  10. The following options should be Started and Automatic:
    • Remote Access AutoDial Manager
    • Remote Access Connection Manager
    • Remote Access Service
    • Simple TCP/IP Service
  11. Open My Computer and double-click
    Dial out Networking
    .
  12. Complete the following to create a new connection:
    1. Enter a connection name and
      click
      Next
      .
    2. Select
      Send my plain text password if that's the only way to connect
      and click
      Next
      .
    3. Enter the phone number to connect to the server and click
      Next
      .
    4. Click
      Finish
      to complete your setup.
