About RSLinx Classic activation

When you start RSLinx Classic, the software checks for the Activation file. If the system fails to detect the activation file, an error is logged to FactoryTalk Diagnostics, and the system operates under a Grace period. Refer to the FactoryTalk Diagnostics Help for more information about diagnostic messages.
When you place the cursor over the tray icon in the notification area, a message that indicates the activation status displays. If the activation status changes during runtime, the message shows the new status after you restart RSLinx Classic.
Activate RSLinx Classic with FactoryTalk Activation Manager
You need to activate RSLinx Classic using FactoryTalk® Activation Manager™, which is automatically installed during the RSLinx Classic installation.
TIP:
EvRSI activation is replaced by FactoryTalk Activation Manager since RSLinx Classic v2.58.00 (CPR 9 SR 4). If you are using EvRSI activation, please contact your local Rockwell Automation Sales office or Technical Support for information on migrating your activations to FactoryTalk Activation Manager.
For Rockwell Automation Technical Support in the U.S., see Technical Support Center
FactoryTalk Activation Manager provides a secure, software-based system for activating Rockwell Automation software products and managing software activation file. Activation files are generated and distributed via the Internet. If an internet connection is not available, you can use the FactoryTalk Activation Manager to create a Host ID file that can be imported to a computer with an Internet connection.
