Specify the target table

Use
ODBC Database Destination Setup
to specify the name of the table within the ODBC data source to which to send messages, and to configure details about this table.
If the target table is not in a valid format,
FactoryTalk Diagnostics
will not send any messages to the data source.
To specify the target table
  1. In the
    ODBC Data Source
    area, next to
    Target Table
    , select
    Browse (...)
to locate the table to which to send messages. The table browser window that opens also displays information about the fields contained in a selected table. Select a table and select
    OK
    .
  2. (optional) To create a new target table in the ODBC data source, type a name and then select
    Create Table
. If a table with the specified name already exists, either overwrite it with the new one or cancel the creation of the new table.
If the target table does not exist when
    FactoryTalk Diagnostics
first attempts to send a message to the data source, the system attempts to create the table.
  3. (optional) To extend the length of the message to 1999 for a
    SQL Server®
    or
    Oracle®
    database, select
    Extend table
    . Extending table for a
    Access
    database is not supported.
The default length of the message is 254. Extending the table is permitted when the message length is between 254 and 1999 characters.
  4. (optional) To log long diagnostic messages to the database, select
    Use long message text
. The message can be up to 1999 characters.
If the check box is not selected, the message can be no more than 254 characters.
