Open Platform Communications Data Access (OPC DA) Server Settings
OPC DA, also known as Classic OPC, enables access to high volumes of data using an industry-standard protocol. Individual scalar data items are represented within folders for data scopes, structure, and array elements. All data available to FactoryTalk Linx, the FactoryTalk Linx OPC UA Connector, the FactoryTalk Live Data OPC DA interface, FactoryTalk Resource and Status, and FactoryTalk View SE HMI tags is fully available.

Description
Disabled or Enabled
Controls the
OPC
DA service and view the status.
OPC DA utilizes DCOM communications, and the service operates using the "Local System" account which could make the computer vulnerable to a security exploit.
Namespace
Determines how the OPC DA service will present information to OPC DA clients.
  • Folders with scalar data
    Allows OPC DA clients to access all data as scalar from all FactoryTalk application sources.
Access
Changes the DA access after installation. This setting is only available when the current
FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
Configuration is relaunched as administrator.
Client Remote Access
  • Selects
    Only local DA clients
    to allow DA client and
    FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
    to operate on the same computer.
  • Selects
    Local or remote DA clients
    to allow DA client to operate on the same or on a remote computer.
    If this is selected, security risk might occur with higher DCOM privilege.
Client Write Operations
  • Enables the DA client to perform write operations.
Tip:
This configuration will not be backed up.

Diagnostic Logging
Enables diagnostics logging for write operations and selects the log type.
