Configuration file encryption

Starting from version 6.30.00,
FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
encrypts the configuration files, which does not support copying them to another computer.
When upgrading
FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
from version 6.21.00 or earlier to version 6.30.00, the configuration files are automatically encrypted.
When upgrading
FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
from version 6.21.00 to version 6.30.00 or newer, a .db.old_1 backup configuration file is automatically generated in: "C:\ProgramData\Rockwell\
FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
". If you uninstall version 6.30.00 and reinstall version 6.21.00, you must reconfigure the configuration file as follows:
  1. Delete or move the databaseconfig.ini and FTLinxGateway.db* files in: "C:\ProgramData\Rockwell\
    FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
    ".
  2. Rename "FTLinxGateway.db.old_1" to "FTLinxGateway.db".
The configuration files can only be used in a specific local computer. To reuse the configuration on another computer, back up the reused configuration from the original computer, and then restore it on the computer to be used. For more information, see Back up and restore
FactoryTalk Linx Gateway
configuration
