I am locked out of the Administrator account
You might be unable to access a
FactoryTalk
administrator account if you accidentally disable the account manually, or if you repeatedly type the wrong password to the account when logging on. If you repeatedly typed the wrong password, the account was locked because of a security policy that locks user accounts after a specified number of failed logon attempts. Solutions
- FactoryTalk Securityallows multiple user accounts to be members of the Administrators group. If another user has aFactoryTalkaccount orWindows-linked account that is a member of theFactoryTalkAdministrators group, have that user unlock your account for you. If you have forgotten your password, have that user reset your password for you.
- If you are logging on with aFactoryTalkuser account that is a member of theFactoryTalkAdministrators group, but all accounts in theFactoryTalkAdministrators group are either disabled or deleted, you must access theFactoryTalk Directoryin a special way. First, log on toWindowson the computer where theFactoryTalkNetwork Directory Server orFactoryTalkLocal Directory is located with aWindowsaccount that is a member of the localWindowsAdministrators group. Next, run the. The wizard will prompt you to add theFactoryTalk DirectoryConfiguration WizardWindowsAdministrators group to theFactoryTalkAdministrators group. You can then log on to the directory using anyWindowsaccount that is a member of theWindowsAdministrators group. If your system was running with tightened security, be sure to remove theWindowsAdministrators group from theFactoryTalkAdministrators group when you log on.
- If you are logging on with aFactoryTalkuser account that is a member of theFactoryTalkAdministrators group, and the account has been locked (for example, because of too many invalid logon attempts), run theon theFactoryTalk DirectoryConfiguration WizardFactoryTalk DirectoryServer computer and then log on using the user name and password of the locked account. This will enable the account for you.TIP:To enable a lockedFactoryTalkadministrator account, you must have both the original user name and password to the account. - If you are logging on with aWindows-linked account, unlock the account inWindows.IMPORTANT:Security settings are completely separate in the Network Directory and Local Directory. Changes made to the security settings in the Network Directory do not affect the Local Directory and vice versa.
