  1. In
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    , right-click an OPC UA Connector, and then select

Configure the properties on the
Redundancy
tab of the FactoryTalk Linx OPC UA Connector to set up options for a secondary OPC UA server to use if the primary OPC UA server fails.

Description
Secondary Server Setting
Identifies the server providing redundancy.
Under
Computer hosting the FactoryTalk Link OPC UA Connector
, select
Browse
to locate the server on the network or type the server name if the server has not been added to the network directory yet.
Switch Options
Determines to continue using the secondary server even when the primary server becomes available again.
Server switchover
After selecting a server in
Server Status
, use the
Switch to Primary
and
Switch to Secondary
buttons to switch to the primary or secondary server.
Server Status
Displays the current state and connection status of the primary and secondary OPC UA servers.
  • Redundancy State
    - Displays the current state of the primary and secondary OPC UA Servers. The possible redundancy states are as follows:
    • Unknown
      - No coordination is configured to the partner server.
    • Unreachable
      - The server is not found.
    • Loaded
      - The server is installed but it is not loaded.
    • Fail
      - The server detects a failure. If the failure is recoverable, the server may enter the Loading state when it is ready to restart.
    • Loading
      - The current process is starting, and the server is loading other processes or components.
    • Starting
      - The connection to the server is lost. It will take a while before the state becomes Active or Standby.
    • Ready
      - The server is ready to be active.
    • Active
      - The server is active to deliver information for FactoryTalk clients and its standby server was detected.
    • Standby
      - The server is in the standby state.
    • Active_No_Partner
      - The server is active to deliver information for FactoryTalk Clients and its standby was not detected.
    • Active_Sync
      - The server is going to transfer from Active_No_Partner or Ready state to Active state.
    • Standby-Sync
      - The server is going to transfer from Active_No_Partner or Ready state to Standby state. This state will include which Server should be used for the State Synchronization.
    • Active_Ready
      - The server will immediately go to the Active state.
    • Standby-Ready
      - The Server will immediately go to the Standby state.
  • Connection Status
    - Displays the OPC UA server status.
TIP:
Method state is not synchronized and when a switchover occurs, the values of the Active partner may not be the same as the values in the Inactive server.
