FactoryTalk Directory event log (Diagnostics Viewer)

In a
FactoryTalk
-enabled automation system,
Rockwell Automation
 software products monitor system activity and generate detailed diagnostic messages. Meanwhile,
FactoryTalk Diagnostics
 collects these messages from all participating products throughout a distributed system and routes them to Local Logs (also called event logs) on each computer.
If you encounter a problem, you can review the events in the log that led up to the problem to assist in determining the cause. Or you can monitor the log to identify potential problems and take corrective action before a problem occurs.
To view messages logged to the Local Log, open the
FactoryTalk Diagnostics
 Viewer
 on the computer where the alarm server resides.
You can:
  • Open the
    Diagnostics Viewer
     from within
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
     or
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    . From the
    Tools
     menu, click
    FactoryTalk Diagnostics
     > Viewer
    .
  • Open the
    Diagnostics Viewer
     from the Windows Start menu:
    Start > All Programs > Rockwell Software >
    FactoryTalk
     Tools > Diagnostics Viewer
    .
