FactoryTalk Security for Data communication Inhibit and Enable

Use the Device Data Communication Enable/Inhibit permission item to setup a user’s access right to modify the state of a device from
FactoryTalk Linx
interface or predefined items.
To configure the data communication inhibit/enable permission for a specific user
  1. Start
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    or
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    .
  2. Right-click the application name and select
    Security
    .
  3. In the
    Security Setting
    dialog box, select the user you want to change permission for.
  4. In the
    Permissions
    area, go to the
    Device Data Communication Enable/Inhibit
    action item, select the
    Allow
    or
    Deny
    check box to change the user's permission for data communication inhibit and enable.
  5. Click
    OK
    .
After the user's data communication enable/inhibit permission is denied:
  • The
    Inhibit
    Data Communications
    check box is disabled when using
    FactoryTalk Linx
    .
  • The
    Enable
    is disabled in the
    Show All Inhibit Devices
    dialog box when using
    FactoryTalk Linx
    .
  • A pop-up message will inform you that you cannot modify the predefined item value of @DataCommunicationsInhibit in FactoryTalk Live Data Test Client. You can check the data communication enable/inhibit safety status in
    FactoryTalk Diagnostics
    log.
