Alarm and Event Summary Properties - States tab

How do I open the Alarm and Event Summary Properties dialog box?
Use
FactoryTalk View Studio
at design time to open the
Alarm and Event Summary Properties
dialog box:
  1. Add an Alarm and Event Summary object to a display.
  2. Right-click on the Alarm and Event Summary object, and then click
    Properties
    .
Use the
States
tab in the
Alarm and Event Summary Properties
dialog box to configure the runtime appearance of alarms and events displayed in the Alarm and Event Summary.
Use this tab to choose a color for different alarm states and priorities, and configure if the alarm message text should blink--which helps the operator decide which events need the most immediate attention.
Selecting colors, and blinking for an alarm priority on the
States
tab does not make alarms of that priority display in the Alarm and Event Summary. To select which alarm priorities are displayed in the Alarm and Event Summary, select the alarm priorities on the
Event Subscriptions
tab.
When choosing colors, choose colors that provide good contrast, such as black text on a white background. Avoid low-contrast combinations such as blue text on a black background.
The following table provides details about the settings on the
States
tab and how they can be used:
Setting
Description
Text
The color for the message text of the alarm or event.
Background
The color of the background on which the message text of the alarm or event are displayed.
Choose a color that brings attention and provides good contrast with the text for easy identification. For example, select the color red as a background color for any alarm state you want the operator to recognize as urgent. This setting does not affect the background color of the alarm list. To select the background color for the entire alarm list, use the
Appearance
tab instead of the
States
tab.
Blink
Determines whether the text of the alarm or event will blink while the alarm state is in effect.
The blink of alarm or event message text in the Alarms and Event Summary helps bring immediate attention when the alarm is in effect. You can determine if the text of a priority state blinks.
Blink rate
Determines how fast the alarm text blinks in the Alarm and Event Summary.
The blink of the alarm text in the Alarm and Event Summary helps bring attention when the alarm state is in effect. You can change how fast it blinks by specifying the blink rate. The same blink rate applies to all messages that are set to blink.
Test Rates button
Provides a preview of the alarm experience with the configured blink rate.
