Alarm and Event Log Viewer Properties - General tab

List of the alarm database names retrieved from the

System > Connections > Databases

folder in the FactoryTalk Directory. The first name in the list is selected when this page is presented unless an alarm database was previously selected by the designer. The selected alarm database is queried for historical data requested at runtime. Only one alarm database can be selected from the list.

To display alarm and event information when the Alarm and Event Log Viewer opens, use the drop down list.

To open the Alarm and Event Log Viewer without querying the alarm database for historical data, clear this check box.

To adjust the window height of the Details pane at runtime, select this check box.

The check boxes in this area are used to control the display of interface elements in the Alarm and Event Log Viewer.

To show horizontal grid lines between rows in the event list, select this check box.

This is helpful especially when the Alarm and Event Log Viewer is very wide.

To show vertical grid lines between columns in the event list, select this check box.

This is helpful especially when the columns are spaced closely together.

To show the details pane, select this check box.

To show the toolbar, select this check box.

To show the status bar at the bottom of the Alarm and Event Log Viewer, select this check box.

To show tooltips for the toolbar and status bar, select this check box.

To show messages of Quality Good or Quality Not Good in the event list, select this check box.

These messages will show when the alarm quality changes such as when a connection is lost or when it comes back to normal.

To show the solid border line in the Alarm and Event Log Viewer, select this check box. To hide the solid border line in the Alarm and Event Log Viewer, clear this check box.

Select an icon style to show.

The settings in this area change the appearance of the toolbar that is displayed at the top of the Alarm and Event Log Viewer.

If screen space is limited and operators can interact with the Alarm and Event Log Viewer using separate controls on a keypad terminal, you can hide the toolbar.

To select a color for the caption text on the buttons on the toolbar, click the color box.

To select a background color for the toolbar buttons, click the color box.

To select a size for the icons on the toolbar, in the

Icon size

box, click the down arrow and make a selection.

Use larger icon sizes for touch-screen terminals.

Use the settings in this area to change the appearance of the Event List displayed at the top of the Alarm and Event Log Viewer.

To select a color for the text in the column headings, click the color box.

To select a color for the background for the column headings, click the color box.

Use the settings in this area to change the appearance of the text in the rows of the events list at the top of the Alarm and Event Log Viewer.

To select a color for the text of selected items in the event list, click the color box.

To select a color for the background of selected items in the event list, click the color box.

The settings in this area change the appearance of the grid in the event list at the top of the Alarm and Event Log Viewer.

To select a color for the horizontal and vertical grid lines in the event list at the top of the Alarm and Event Log Viewer, click the color box.

To select a background color for the event list at the top of the Alarm and Event Log Viewer, click the color box.

The settings in this area change the appearance of the information displayed in the details pane at the bottom of the Alarm and Event Log Viewer.

To keep the Details pane window height from being adjusted at runtime, clear this check box.

To select a color for the text displayed in the details pane, click the color box. Choose a color that contrasts well with the background color of the details pane.

To select a color for the background of the details pane, click the color box. Choose a color that contrasts well with the color of the text in the details pane.

Type a value in percent for the size of the details pane relative to the size of the whole Alarm and Event Log Viewer object.

The settings in this area change the font for text in the Alarm and Event Log Viewer.

To select a font for text presented in the Alarm and Event Log Viewer, click the

Browse

button and choose a font from the list.

Avoid fonts that are difficult to read.

To select a default font for text that is sent to a printer, click the

Browse

button and choose a font from the list.

Make sure to match the font and font size to the printer and paper size used for printing reports.
