OPC DA Data Server Properties-Redundancy

How do I access Redundancy properties for an
OPC
DA Server?
  1. In
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    Explorer
, expand the application or the area until the OPC Data Server is visible.
  2. Right-click the OPC Data server and select
    Properties.
  3. In
    OPC Data Server
    , select the
    Redundancy
    tab.
Use
Redundancy
to set up or remove redundancy options for an
OPC
DA data server. When redundancy is selected, these settings determine which computer serves as the secondary server if the primary server becomes unavailable, and how the secondary server switches back to the primary
OPC
DA data server when it becomes available again.
Setting
Description
Provide redundancy using a secondary server
To set up redundancy options, select
Provide redundancy using a secondary server
. To remove redundancy options, clear the check box.
Computer running secondary server
Identify the name of the computer where the secondary server is located. Either type a computer name or use
Browse
to locate and select a computer.
Switch back options
Choose either:
  • Continue using the secondary server, even when the primary becomes available again
    .
Choose this option to minimize server switches if expecting frequent network interruptions or if manual control of the switch from Active and Standby server is needed. For example, choose this option to perform troubleshooting or maintenance tasks on a primary server before it becomes active.
  • Switch back to the primary server when it becomes available.
Choose this option if you expect few network interruptions, if you do not need to manually control when a primary server becomes active, or when the secondary server is used as a backup only in case of emergencies.
